Our Promise Thank You Breakfast & Awards

Post

Thank you for attending the 2018 Our Promise Thank You Breakfast! We appreciate everything you do to make the Our Promise campaign successful.

The event honored our committed and hard-working department and agency Chairs, Vice Chairs and other campaign volunteers, who worked to spread the word about the opportunity to give back, and the 30,000 state employees who contributed to Our Promise: California State Employees Giving at Work.

Thanks to the generosity of state workers, the 2018 campaign raised $5.9 million! If you wish to see all of the results from the campaign, click here.

Awardees honored at the event

Several volunteers and departments received awards for their dedication and work on the Our Promise 2018 campaign.

The CDCR Wasco State Prison was awarded the Outstanding Improvement Award. Their hard work resulted in over 61% increase in donations and increased employee participation by 13%!

The Department of Real Estate and Covered CA received this year’s Collaborative Excellence Award. This was a unique collaboration between two seemingly unrelated departments. Despite being in two separate agencies, they share office space and more importantly share a common goal and desire to give back to the community.  Through their collaboration, they increased awareness of Our Promise and together raised $34,000.

The Exceptional Leadership Achievement Award, is given each year to the department with the most leadership level donors (giving $1,000 or more), was awarded to the Department of Transportation for the fourth year in a row with over 80 Leadership Donors from across the state!

Campaign of the Year Awards were given to  Housing, Business Consumer Services Agency (small department), who had a staff participation of 50% and California Highway Patrol (large department) for the fourth year in a row!

This year to recognize outstanding department leadership, we’re introducing the Golden State of Achievement Award. Presented to the Department of Pesticide Regulation, their leadership team showed what impact a $5 gift could make.

The 2018 Augustus Freeman Hawkins Award of Distinguished Merit in Dedication was awarded to Marcie Frost, CEO of the California Public Employment Retirement System. Frost has been a staunch advocate for this campaign for the past two years as 2018 Our Promise chair and co-chair in 2017. Despite only having a few years of State service, she jumped headfirst into this leadership role. Under her leadership, she has encouraged not only her department but all State employees to come together through Our Promise.
